Description

As a Skilled Operative at CML you will always work in a safe manner, following appropriate procedures and instructions at all times.


You will be responsible for:

  • Following appropriate procedures and instructions, using all tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Cooperating with and following directions of the Site Supervisor and General Foreman
  • Undertaking tasks including but not limited to: loading and unloading vehicles, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, digging, lifting, pulling and any tasks related to relevant specialist trades you may hold
  • Correctly using and maintaining the PPE provided to you, making requests for safety clothing or equipment where needed
  • Ensuring that vehicle materials, tools and plant equipment under your control are fit for use and are used, stored and disposed of correctly. Reporting any defects or issues to the senior members of your Team
  • Liaising with the Site Supervisor and General Foreman, reporting any issues or safety concerns you think could be improved
  • Contributing to the administration of the site by assisting with paperwork as directed for daily and weekly submissions to Head Office


Teamwork is key in delivering our works effectively, so when you aren't required to use your daily skills and trades on the job, we actively encourage our Team members to undertake other reasonable duties to ensure collaboration in meeting deadlines.


Desirable Skills

  • Structures refurbishment/reconstruction/new construction works
  • Station building and platforms renewals
  • Culvert and drainage renewal
  • Masonry repairs and strengthening
  • Surface preparation and painting
  • Civil and groundworks
If you hold any of the following competencies or qualifications, this would also be advantageous:

  • PTS
  • Joinery
  • Bricklaying
  • Groundworks
  • Drainage
  • COSS, SSSTS, SMSTS, PASMA, IPAF, small tools, Temporary works supervisor/coordinator, First Aid, street works, IRATA, rail trolley, weed spray, chainsaw, strimmer etc.
