Electrical Design Engineer - Software

Manchester (hybrid)

£ per year (flexible)

Advantage Resourcing are working in partnership with a large engineering company who operate within the aerospace industry and are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer who will be responsible for the design of control and drive systems,complying with the specification requirement, preparing electrical drawings of the control and drive systems, development, testing and verification of PLC controller programmes against the specification requirement.


What will you be doing:


  • Undertake the conceptual development of the electrical control and drive systems and promote ideas within the bounds of the specification.
  • Review the systems design and specify the most appropriate control and drive equipment.
  • Develop and engineer the system in accordance with the agreed framework and modules of the requirement.
  • Test control and drive systems against the functional specifications and document results and noncompliance actions.
  • Demonstrate verification and compliance following modifications of the electrical design and PLC programs.
  • Assist the development of system design procedures and standardized ways of operating.
  • Maintain all design files in good order and ensure the data is securely backed up along with all associated documentation.
  • Specify all related to electrical design components within the project.
  • Liaise and communicate with Sub Contractors or Suppliers to ensure the services and supplied components meet with the requirements of the project.
  • Attend project and progress reviews to identify pertinent issues and required actions.
  • Provide a technical level of supervision to the engineering staff engaged in the build, testing and installation of the equipment.
  • Work within the budgetary and programme requirements of the project.
  • Achieve the technical & commercial objectives of the contract, including budget and delivery targets.

And a couple of things you should know:

  • CAD (ideally Solidworks Electrical)
  • Knowledge of motion control, fieldbus, safety systems, PLC's, HMI's etc
  • Experience of working on electrical systems or design
  • Ability to work on multiple projects
