The Growth Company's (GC) Education & Skills Team have a fantastic vacancy for a Head of Operations - Green Skills Academy (GSA).

The GSA is the first of its kind in the North, created to play a critical role in Greater Manchester's ambition to be net zero by 2050.


In this role, you will be responsible for the successful design and delivery of industry relevant training and development programmes at the GSA which meet learner and employer needs in line with specific funding and quality standards and the financial targets of the delivery team.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the development of individual service area plans.
  • Develop detailed delivery plans/timetables that embrace digital platforms & deliver agreed KPI's.
  • Develop productive relationships with key partners to inform competitive curriculum and to identify market opportunities for the GSA.
  • Evaluate and analyse learner, employer and staff feedback.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with Group colleagues/teams to support the effective delivery of own and others' service plans.
  • To account manage key employers and participate in geographical and sector interest groups aligned with the motivations and ambitions of the GSA.
  • Recruit people that have the necessary spread of expertise/qualification/values to meet targets.
  • Manage delivery teams and staff (of 15), ensuring service delivery plans and timetables are innovative, embrace new ways of learning and are adhered to.
  • Embed the GC culture and lead staff so that the behaviour, attitude and belief contribute to high quality delivery and strong performance against targets.
  • Incorporate the company's health and safety and safeguarding arrangements for staff and customers in everything we do.
  • Deliver individual financial plans and the funding agreed for the GSA.
  • Implement appropriate systems and procedures to ensure delivery meets all contractual requirements, compliance and quality indicators to reduce risk and maximise return.

Skills required:


  • Experience of managing Electrical Installation, Green qualifications, renewable technologies.
  • Proven track record of funded and/or commercial success.
  • Managerial experience is essential.
  • Experience of developing and delivering teaching, learning and assessment in post16 education and training utilising a range of blended learning resources.
  • Knowledge of AM2, 18th Ed and NVQ Electrical Level 3 and other key awarding bodies.
  • Ability to turn learner and industry need into viable curriculum, including bespoke packages and partnership models with key employers.
