We need an Assistant Chief Constable that is going to build on the last four years of improvements. You will want to learn and evolve with the Force, enabling innovative ideas whilst not destabilising.


As Assistant Chief Constable at Northamptonshire Police you will have a desire to match the Chief Constable's drive and determination, with the business and leadership skills to nurture senior leaders, develop talent for the future and personal agility to grow with the Force.

  • Substantive Assistant Chief Constables.
  • Chief Superintendents/Superintendents ready for substantive promotion having completed and successfully passed the Senior Command Course.

Recruitment and Selection Policy


Internal applicants who are at risk of redundancy or in need of redeployment and pass the selection process, will be offered the role over the remaining internal and external applicants.

Please be aware that the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and Northamptonshire Police are separate employers.

Although Police internal vacancies are open to OPFCC staff and vice versa, if you are successful, the change of employer will require a longer onboarding process and you will receive a new contract and payroll number.

Service with either employer can be carried over as continuous service.
