We are seeking a Senior Research Associate in Sustainable Cooling to join the interdisciplinary Future of Cooling programme at the Department of Engineering Science.

This position is supported by a grant from the Oxford Martin School, focused on the health, economic, and environmental impacts of increasing energy use and greenhouse gas emission in response to rising extreme heat affects.

The programme has provided research worldwide to overcome this blind spot, generating evidence to inform policy, decision-making tools and strategies to mitigate the impact of heat and promote sustainable cooling strategies at multiple scales for people and the planet.


Reporting to the co-Principal Investigator, Professor Malcolm McCulloch, the post-holder will help ensure a healthy and vibrant research environment within the Future of Cooling programme.

This will involve leading, devising, coordinating and supervising research projects in this area, including work in collaboration with project partners, guidance to researchers and students, and winning further funding to underpin the research.


You should hold a PhD in architecture and/or engineering, together with demonstrable experience of working with qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

You should have demonstrable experience of collaborating with research partners.
