An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a busy, friendly, and professional team within the Green Consultancy department of Lewes and Eastbourne Council's within the Regulatory and place team.


We are looking to recruit an experienced land manager to help deliver a wide range of habitat management and engagement activities across the council's estate.

You would engage with volunteer groups and organise and arrange habitat management activities and work schedules to maintain and enhance the council's nature sites for biodiversity.

You will advise and assist with, ecological improvements, conservation and environmental issues, nature conservation projects, and engagement activities across both Lewes and Eastbourne councils.


With a background in practical land management and a desire to enhance green infrastructure, you will develop and promote partnerships to deliver ecological and biodiversity conservation improvements, as well as providing advice regarding the Council's duties in relation to the management of its land, nature reserves, SSSI's, and buildings.

You will be required to revise site management plans, looking longer term at key aims and objectives for biodiversity.


You will be required to have obtained a qualification in ecology, conservation management, or other relevant field, and hold solid experience with engagement and land management.


Requirements:


  • Countryside/land management experience
  • Good understanding & demonstrable experience in working with landowners and/or other stakeholders towards conservation outcomes.
  • A working knowledge of current and evolving wildlife policy and legislation
  • Experience with project management and contractor management
  • Coordination skills the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience working within the community and supporting volunteers.
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Enthusiasm for ecology and the environment in the UK
  • Habitat and botanical identification skills
  • An organised approach to work, flexibility and a high level of motivation
  • A full driving license and access to your own transport
The authority has moved to home working and therefore the role will involve home working combined with site visits.


Salary:
£26,348.00-£34,723.00 per year
