Role purpose


The role, reporting to the Head of External Reporting and having regular interactions with Group and local finance teams, will be responsible for managing the consolidation team and the monthly consolidation process within the Group Finance function.

The role has core accountability for the accurate and timely delivery of Group monthly management information to Board level as well as the delivery of key compliance results covering the Group's lending arrangements.

The consolidation team ultimately drives the production of the Group financial statements which are of paramount importance as Travelex continues its growth and development plans, emerging post-pandemic.


Having undertaken a comprehensive post COVID, restructuring process to put the business on a solid financial platform for the future, the External Reporting team is being rebuilt and is transitioning from a staff base of mainly contract support to a function of permanent team members.

The role provides the opportunity to have significant influence on audit processes, practices and financial close procedures, allowing the incumbent to bring to bear both practical experience and strong technical awareness in the delivery of a high quality product.


The role requires a high level of technical ability (knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS102) requirements) and audit experience with the ability to influence external stakeholders, co-ordinate activities across both group functions and the regions and manage financial disciplines and process.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead the Group Consolidation function and manage a team of 4 qualified accountants.
  • Responsible for reporting monthly, quarterly and annually to the bond investors, including the preparation of the Travelex consolidation in compliance with IFRS
  • Responsible for preparing technical accounting papers for both internal and external audiences (Group auditors), which support the Group's approach to complex accounting treatments.
  • Responsible for providing technical accounting guidance (IFRS and FRS102) to the wider Finance community.
  • Key involvement with the relationship with the external auditors to deliver the Travelex Group consolidated financial statements as well as key nontrading UK subsidiaries, ensuring the filing deadlines are met, efficient processes are followed and clean opinions achieved.
  • Be a contributor to commercial and corporate finance projects such as acquisitions, contract reviews and implications of standards on commercial negotiations
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of the reporting systems and control processes
  • Delivery of relevant regulatory or external reporting requirements, working with the wider Finance function and the Travelex Compliance team.
  • Work with the regional Finance Teams to identify areas for improvement to support the quality and efficiency of financial close, reporting and audit processes across the group,
sharing best practice standards and ensuring the adoption of standard processes and procedures.

  • Recommend procedural changes and improvements that enhance controls of accounting processes and records to ensure financial risks and exposures are kept to a minimum
  • Assist with supporting the Control and Governance team in ensuring that Group financial control framework is implemented across the businesses
Role-specific experience and skills

  • Qualified accountant (ACA).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS and the consolidation process
  • Good knowledge of HFM or FCCS
  • A flexible, dynamic, and positive approach, with excellent business partnership skills who is able to to work across organisational boundaries
  • Tenacity, drive, the ability to operate and make key decisions effectively in a demanding environment and able to provide constructive challenge.
  • The ability to inspire teams to deliver in challenging circumstances, recognising the need to motivate and develop whilst maintaining pace and juggling priorities
  • Comprehensive attention to detail with the ability to articulate key issues and a willingness to get into the detail.
  • Proven ability to lead a Group consolidation team, focusing on results, proactively solving problems and supporting the business with solutions
