About us
We are looking for a passionate candiate that can work between the hours of 7.45am and 5pm. We are open Monday to Friday. Typical shifts are between 7.45 till 1300 and 1200 and till 1700. Please talk to us about your availability as we may be able to work around your other committments. This is a highly rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the children in our care and their families.

Woodland Corner is a charity run childcare setting based in the grounds of Nayland Primary School, looking after children aged 2-11.
Early Years Assistant
Key Objectives
To work closely with the Manager/Pre-School Leader as a valued member of the Woodland Corner team showing initiative and creativity.
- To adhere to all Woodland Corner's Policies and Procedures.
- To foster an environment in which children are encouraged in their allround development and where high standards of care are provided.
- To take responsibility for the safeguarding, security and wellbeing of all children in their care.
Responsibilities
Operational
To be a team player, working co-operatively and with flexibility.
- To work with the Pre-School Leader and other staff in the planning of activities suitable for the age range of the children, where appropriate following the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (2021), providing high quality teaching and learning during breakfast, preschool, after school and holiday club sessions.
- To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met.
- To maintain their key children's Tapestry Learning Journey, observe children's progress and achievements and plan for their next steps.
- To develop positive relationships with parents/carers, children and other staff members.
- To assist in the supervision of children at play (indoors and outside) and at mealtimes.
- To assist in the creation of a stimulating and attractive learning environment.
- To deliver and collect children from Nayland Primary School clubs and activities.
- To communicate with parents/carers, encouraging them to participate in their child's progress and development.
- To assist with the care, maintenance and security of all equipment, resources and toys within Woodland Corner, ensuring all areas including storage and cupboards are tidy.
Personnel
- To attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- To participate in all self development activities (including appraisals, supervisions etc.).
- To attend training for personal development and to meet qualification requirements of Ofsted registration where appropriate. All staff are required to undertake Safeguarding Training and Paediatric First Aid.
Health and Safety
To undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety, hygiene and cleanliness throughout Woodland Corner at all times.
- To provide personal care for the children as necessary and ensure their general cleanliness.
- To operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the food preparation, toilet and nappy changing areas.
- To be familiar with all emergency and security procedures e.g. Emergency evacuation procedure, registration, routines for dropping off and collecting children.
General
To adhere to all Woodland Corner's policies and procedures, including attendance of meetings and other duties as required.
Person Specification
Essential
Prepared to undertake professional development as appropriate.
- Affinity with children aged 21
- Ability to work as a reliable member of the Woodland Corner team, developing positive relationships with colleagues, children, parents/carers and outside agencies.
- Good communication skills (written and oral).
Desirable

Current and relevant qualification, equal to Level 2 or above in Early Years
:
- Safeguarding Children training.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
- Completion of Food Hygiene Course.
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
