Field Service Engineer

Our client is one of the UKs leading Automotive Engineering companies and they are looking for talented Field service engineer to join their growing team.
Main Purpose of Role:
To provide front line customer support in an automotive environment under the guidance of the Aftersales and Service Manager
The role will initially be centred around supporting the UK Service Manager to set up the aftersales/service function so there is significant opportunity for the individual to mould how the service engineer team will work in the future to ensure that the customerbase receive world class automotive aftersales and service support.
The role is customer facing and as the team grows the role will likely involve travel around the UK and Europe to help customers / service centres.
Key Activities:
- Support the development the service engineer processes and operating strategy in conjunction with the UK service manager
- Liaise with customers to support complaints, including proactive visits to customer sites to build relationships with teams.
- Analyse and resolve customer issues of returned systems and onsite diagnostic support.
- Support procurement and delivery of parts to support close out of customer issues
- Report on customer visits and feedbacks into the business to ensure any issues can be evaluated and corrective actions taken
- Support customer and end user training
- Spend time with some customers to understand the integration of the product to support the product knowledge
- Develops and maintain relationships with the customer
- Support testing and development of products as required
- Completing preventative maintenance on equipment as required
- Identify new sales opportunities
- Undertake any other duties of which the knowledge, skills and experience required fall within a post holder's position in the company
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Any professional qualification appropriate to customer service is desirable
- H&S qualification such as IOSH working safely / managing safely
- H&S qualification such as Nebosh is desirable.
- Professional Six Sigma qualification is desirable
- Valid driving license and good driving record is required
Experience Required:
- 58 years experience in a service engineer role
- Experienced in electric vehicle systems and architecture
- Proven track record of meeting customers needs
- Detailed understanding of problemsolving techniques
- Experience diagnosing and repairing to component level mechanical, electromechanical, and/or electronic equipment
- Experience in High Voltage is desirable
- Working in a controlled environment ensuring processes and systems are followed to deliver customer satisfaction and product safety is maintained.
- Developing, deploying and managing warranty systems experience would also be desirable.
