Your role will require the highest clinical standards in the management of patients and that youactively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.


You will need to take responsibility for own actions and adopts a supportive approach towards others, act with honesty, integrity, at all times and maintain awareness of confidentiality and ethical issues with andwork effectively under pressure and cope with setbacks, maintain composure and set high standards of behaviour when under pressure and to have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).


Clinically you will have care of the departments in-patients supervised by the Specialist Registrar, other Middle Grades and Consultants, ensure all inpatients are reviewed every 24 hours by a senior doctor, taking part in consultant ward rounds, ensuring that GP e discharge letters containing all relevant information are sent and you will be expected to give advice to junior medical staff where appropriate and with the other team members, support and teach Medical Students (UCL and Royal Free) attached to the department.


You will ensure that case notes are completed, drug prescriptions are regularly reviewed, appropriate investigations are carried out and the results acted upon and made available for consultant ward rounds and be expected to participate in the out of hour and on call rota and complete Initial assessment of acute medical patients referred to the Emergency Medicine Department, Assessment Ward and other wards.


Your role will involve cover for colleague's annual leave and other authorised absence, you must manage your time in order to ensure compliance with contracted hours and take part in monitoring exercises when requested, work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospital agreed planned activity for inpatient and outpatient services, ensure that standards are developed through clinical audit, evidence-based research and appraisal and be required to participate in audit, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes and in CPD.
