An opportunity has arisen for a PGA Assistant or new Trainee to join our successful team at Breadsall Priory.

The position has a focus on retail, golf operations and to further your development at the club.

There will be an opportunity for coaching, (particularly to assist in junior development) and custom fitting opportunities in our excellent indoor studio (winter months).

This role is also combined with golf shop and operational duties, and day to day running of the club.

It is a benefit to have had previous experience working within golf retail and customer focused roles.

Due to the remote location of the business, you are required to have your own transport.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to acquire new skills within a busy, modern golf and leisure club.

When a golfer walks into the golf shop, you are setting the mood for the game ahead.

A warm welcome, a few hints and tips on the hidden challenges the course brings and they have a great game ahead.


As the Oldest Marriott Hotel in the world, our Championship Priory course has the premier layout since its inception in 1977, it is known as one of the best in the local area.

The Priory skirts our stunning hotel, and requires accurate play to negotiate the tree-lined fairways.

Our Moorland course differs in style to the Priory, set amidst the lush Derbyshire countryside, the Moorland is more open, but is also fortunate to offer views to equal its neighbour.

Both courses were designed by the legendary Donald Steel.


What you'll do

  • Provide a consistently high level of service and hospitality to all Members and Guests at all times and in all areas of the Golf Operation
  • To meet all criteria required to pass the necessary Marriott audits such as the Marriott Golf Audit & '59 Club Mystery Shopper'
  • Take golf reservations and ensure that all golf bookings are correctly inputted into booking system, and that revenue is processed correctly
  • To assist in general shop and servicerelated duties e.g. merchandising, stock control, cleaning
  • Checkin all golfers and support the day to day management of tee times
  • Support the daily management and maintenance of the buggy fleet and operation, including cleaning, fueling and positioning ensuring that sufficient buggies are available to cater for both that day and following day's business
  • Regularly monitor the locker facilities, undertake cleaning as required.
  • Assist with ball control and cleanliness at the driving range
  • Ensure that guidelines, as set by the hotel, are followed in terms of sanitisation and safety practices with regards to the customer facing areas in the golf operations, equipment, retail, buggies and confectionary
  • Carry out course marshalling duties as required
  • Ensure that the Halfway House is operational
  • Carry out green fee payment checks with the collection of tickets on the 1st tee
  • Assist with corporate golf day banner management, score card marking, scoreboard updates and any other Corporate / Society Day requests
  • Support the successful running of golf days; including being the host to organisers where required
  • Support the effective delivery of member competitions and bookings, including handicap maintenance.
