In-person site attendance in Warrington is required three days per week to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration, alongside some travel to other sites in the North West and flexible hours to support work-life balance.

The role


United Utilities (UU) is on the lookout for Wastewater Network Modelling experts who are eager to make a positive impact on the environment and society by leading sustainable, large-scale wastewater projects.

Join us in the role of Modeller where you will have the opportunity to develop yourself professionally whilst aiding us in achieving our ambitious plans in North West England, UK.


As a Modeller, you will be responsible for responsible for delivering modelling projects for both UU and our client network.

The role will involve taking part in the planning, programming, and coordinating of wastewater projects while ensuring delivery excellence, technical governance and best practices are upheld.


As a Modeller, you will play a crucial role in in delivering our AMP8 Better Rivers programme and extensive studies and investigations programme.

By embracing and promoting innovation, especially with new technologies and/or environmental solutions, and using your network modelling skills, you will deliver solutions that will help us shape and define our future vision.

You'll be at the forefront of our most groundbreaking initiatives, with full access to our organization and cutting-edge work.

Utilise your expertise to tackle unique engineering challenges within our industry and collaborate with other specialists to shape vital elements of Research and Development (R&D), Planning and Network Engineering activities within our Studies Programme.

Your contributions will be pivotal to our success and will support us in fulfilling our objectives.


Key accountabilities

  • Working closely and maintaining strong relationships with other engineering disciplines and internal clients.
  • Responsible for the delivery of a range of projects that could be in the capital delivery programme, studies & investigations, assisting developer services or operational support.
  • Deputise for the Senior Modeller.

Skills & experience

  • Professional engineer with postgraduate or equivalent experience and capable of achieving chartered/incorporated (CEng/IEng or equivalent) status.
  • An ability to influence technical solutions across the whole of UU.
  • Modelling experience needs to be in in the use of Innovyze InfoWorksTM ICM software.
  • Hold a full UK/EU driving licence.
