Our Role
Reporting into the Streetworks & Planning Manager, the Planner is the key contact before works for the operational team. They have full accountability for the planning & streetworks aspects of all works before they commence on site.


The Planner will ensure that all operational teams are able to undertake their work in line with the received push plans and requested dates as well as compliant with NRSWA and ensure that timescales are adhered to minimising any financial impact to the company.

They will maintain the below aspects of the process.

  • Planning Meetings
  • Raising new permits
  • Requesting CAD drawings
  • Requesting PO's
  • Sending granted permits for the following week
  • Requesting Early Starts
  • Processing PMR's
  • Dealing with any refusals
  • Council Meetings & Calls
  • Book TM in with TM Company (3 Way & above)
  • Issuing Private Street Letters

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for someone to:

  • To Monitor & be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of all the activities of works to ensure they meet their statutory obligations. Use SWM systems in line with business management systems. To assess and coordinate data that has been entered onto the council's computerised systems known as SWM and respond to where necessary.
  • Coordinate with operations teams to maximise productivity
  • Manage resources effectively to ensure productivity is maximised
  • Validate and transmit notice requests in a timely manor
  • Escalate compliance issues where appropriate
  • Liaising with local authority's and client representatives
  • Run daily reports as required
  • Coordinating with other 3rd parties e.g. Parking suspensions, bus stop suspensions, road closures etc.
  • Identify potential risks to productivity or noticing compliance within the schedule
  • Monitor and chase any outstanding issues
  • Use initiative, prioritise workload and work unsupervised.
  • Any ad hoc activities that are required to support the contract.
  • Own any highways related queries to resolution
  • Maintain communication channels with client and operational teams
Assist in the coordination and delivery of the NRSWA/TMA activity


Qualifications/Skills Required

Communication - Work closely with their associated streetworks administrator and operational teams using constant communication to ensure Programme & NRWSA Compliance.


Performance Management - Manage their daily tasks and time to ensure that all timescales are adhered to and escalate when required information is not being provided.


Operational Understanding - Understand how works take place on site to be able to assist when required and effectively process any requests from site.


Customer focused - Work closely with the customer team when there are any issues on sites. Build relationships with the client and the highway authority to allow for collaborative working.


Legislative Understanding - Ensure they have a required understanding of the NRSWA legislation to aid compliance.


Systems - Use the Cadent SAP, Streetworks Manager system and programmes correctly and understand how to gain any required information from these systems & trackers.
