Role:
Engineering Manager


Location:
Office in Central London (this company is mature about remote / flexible working, people visit from 1-2 times per month to 2 days per week)


Reporting into:
Development Director


Salary:
circa £100-120k (flex) + share options

An innovation scale-up that generated over £400 million in revenue last year (on track for double by end of this financial year).

They are revolutionizing the finance / insurance space, being the first to fully digitally disrupt their industry. As such,they are expanding rapidly and their priority is to bring on more bright technologists to join their team. Code quality, efficiency, and testing are extremely important to this business (they follow SOLID, DRY and ER principles).


Team size and structure:

There are circa 100 people in the company in total, over 60% of these are technologists.

They follow Agile, however they are a growing start-up so you need to be clear-eyed that they're still finding their feet when it comes to best practice / process whichchanges as they implement improvements.

Principal Engineers are the most senior technical voices in a squad, with Engineering Managers acting as peers (Eng Mgrs are more people managers than technical authorities).


About the role:


About you:

You have a technical background and are looking to move into a hands-off role.

You keep a finger on the pulse of the market, aware of new tech trends and tools emerging (perhaps you even contribute to technical blogs, meetups, conferences etc).

You are comfortableworking in a rapidly growing start-up environment and ambiguity. This company is revolutionising their industry, which inevitably means that sometimes they try new things that fail - when this happens to you, you're able to bounce back and start afresh, relishingthe challenge


Tech stack:
Python, Kotlin, C#, React, TypeScript, Postgres, GCP, Terraform, IaC, Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins, Tekton. Don't worry if you haven't come from this background as this role is hands-off.
