  • What Is the Opportunity?
  • Undertake technically accurate assessments of complex property and liability exposures to support risk selection and differentiation for underwriters, providing risk improvement guidance to customers when required. Experience in evaluating sprinkler installations would be desirable.


Co-ordinate risk control activity and provide risk consulting advice to key customers to support their risk management programmes and build on-going business relationships.

Coaching and support to less experienced underwriting and risk control staff in order to develop their skills and capabilities.

What Will You Do?

  • Conducts risk control surveys at client locations to determine potential hazards and risk factors to be considered in underwriting/risk selection.
  • Writes technically detailed reports that provide a clear assessment of risk and clearly articulates risk improvements.
  • Consults with clients on ways to control hazards in order to reduce or prevent losses. Consistently influences clients to implement risk improvements when required.
  • Builds and maintains productive relationships with underwriting and service teams assigned to support the business, with the broker community, with Claims, with other Risk Control staff, and with clients.
  • Analyses loss trends, recognises opportunities to provide risk control products and/or services which can help reduce losses. Explains how risk improvements or products can help minimise losses.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the regulatory environment and emerging safety issues.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of materials and guidelines for clients/brokers, including the delivery of training and presentations.
  • Supports account retention by maintaining strong risk management relationships with key customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Operates in accordance with Travelers policies, procedures and controls (including audit requirements) at all times.

  • Ensuring adherence to Travelers Companies Business Excellence Policy and Procedures and delivering high quality service to our brokers and customers in line with our service standards.
  • Handling Complaints in accordance with Company guidelines and your personal authority.
  • Complying with FSA, Financial Regulator and Sarbanes Oxley guidelines
  • Working as a team with colleagues within the Company
  • Communicating knowledge of his/her actions to his/her Manager and colleagues and to consider their impact on other technical, operational, sales and financial disciplines when formulating those actions
  • Adhering to the Company's Environmental Policy and procedures
  • Keeping adequate records of all transactions undertaken with our brokers and customers
  • Continually looking for improvement both from a personal and business perspective.
What is a Must Have?

  • Experience in safety, risk control, or related fields including but not limited to construction, manufacturing or relevant military experience or bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Must be able to attain appropriate certification to meet legal requirements where applicable.
