Salary £ £27852 per annum l Permanent l Full-time, 37 hours per week l Adult Social Care


We are seeking a Business Support Officer 6 in Support Services Central, providing direct secretarial and administrative support to Heads of Service within Adult Social Care.

The role is based in Preston with a possible need to travel to other bases in Lancashire.


We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering a great service, developing their existing skills in order to provide critical and effective support to senior managers.


You will need to have excellent communication skills whilst listening to and acting upon individual requirements as you will be liaising with senior managers throughout the authority, organising meetings and managing Heads of Service diaries.

Be enthusiastic about supporting senior managers and their teams, demonstrating your ability to use your initiative to solve problems, remaining calm under pressure and asking for support when needed.

The ability to prioritise and organise in order to meet tight deadlines with an appreciation for the importance of discretion with regard to sensitive and confidential information.


Ideally you will have experience of working within an administration setting and have extensive knowledge of using Microsoft packages and databases.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Diary management of Heads of Service within adult Social Care, ensuring the senior managers are aware of approaching deadlines, upcoming events and any issues effecting their schedule.
  • Managing, coordinating and minuting meetings.
  • Organising meetings, attendance at training, conferences, travel arrangements.
  • Typing and printing of correspondence as necessary.
  • Adhoc tasks as required by the Head of Service or your line manager.


To support our team, we offer a flexible approach to working arrangements and, as a minimum, you will need to attend LCC offices for 40% of your working week i.e.

if you work 37 hours you will be required to attend an office location 2 days a week. This may increase dependent of business need.
