We are looking to expand our team of Booth Operator colleagues providing an essential and efficient service to thousands of motorists using the busy A57 Dunham Bridge crossing of the River Trent.


Our Booth Operators are responsible for taking toll monies for all paying vehicles and ensuring they can cross in a safe and efficient manner.

We are looking for people who are dependable, reliable, and flexible with excellent time keeping skills.

We offer a mix of predictable four on four off, day and night casual worker shifts, of either eight or six hours duration.

Our work patterns cover 24 hours a day, every day of the year, except for Christmas and Boxing Days. We also offer casual hours shifts, again of eight or six hours duration.

So, whether you are able to give a more regular commitment up to a full working week or are just seeking a few hours a week please get in touch to discuss how we can meet each other's needs.


You should have a basic competence in mathematics to collect the tolls accurately and return the correct change and well as a friendly and approachable manner to assist motorists swiftly and resolve any payment concerns.

Previous experience in operating electronic tills and bar code readers and or a customer facing role would be useful but not essential, as full training will be given.


Please remember that very occasionally motorists can become frustrated and impatient when queueing and waiting, so it is important that you can work swiftly, accurately and can handle potential conflict situations.

£9.50 days

£10.20 nights

3. PURPOSE OF JOB


The Booth Operator is responsible for taking Toll monies for all paying vehicles that wish to cross the bridge and ensuring all vehicles can cross in a safe and timely manner.


4. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS & DUTIES
a) Identify the vehicles correct toll, and receive the correct cash amount for that vehicle, giving the correct change if appropriate.

b) Identify the vehicles correct toll and deduct 1 crossing per journey from any appropriate Dunham Bridge swipe card that may be offered, in full payment for that crossing.

c) Identify the vehicles correct toll, and process electronic payments from any appropriate credit/debit card that may be offered, in full payment for that crossing.

d) Correctly and accurately record the crossing on the Toll booth cash register.

e) Issue a receipt to any requesting vehicle.

f) Accurately store monies on the racks provided, and at suitable times, transfer these monies into plastic multi-denomination cash bags.

g) Record on the shift sheet, any vehicles on account

h) Take the correct toll money out and put the correct till receipt in the Ray Small account tin, and record the crossing on the cash register, every time a Ray Small vehicle crosses the bridge through your toll booth.

i) Record on the shift sheet, any vehicles that cross as a concession.


j) Prepare (if appropriate to the shift being worked) a "half time" bag, using the cloth bags provided, and record the amount bagged on the shift sheet.


k) Issue customers with new, activated swipe cards, upon receiving the correct amount (Cash/Debit/credit) for the value of the card requested.

l) Accurately record details of any vehicles without the means to pay for the crossing on the sheets provided.

m) Accurately record those vehicles who have paid twice, for an earlier unpaid crossing, on the sheets provided

n) Deal with any "Wide load" vehicle, with the support of other booth operators or management/Office staff, ensuring safe passage is provided and the correct toll is received.

o) Deal with any emergency service vehicles and especially give 'blue light' vehicles priority by clearing lanes of other vehicles safely and quickly.


p) Bring to the attention of the management, any situation or incident that requires dealing with further (other than that which can be dealt with quickly and safely at the time, from the toll booth).

q) At the end of the shift, accurately count and record all monies taken on the shift sheet, and bag up in the cloth bag provided.


r) If requested by Management (through an additional shift) support the safe cleaning of the bridge, using Stop/Go signs for traffic control, while the bridge cleaning contractor is on site.

Support with the expansion joint cleaning process, if required, while on shift.

s) Undertake cleaning of the toll booth if/when on the appropriate shift.
