About the Opportunity**Our Transport Planning team is one of the most successful in the UK & Ireland, with a varied client base and strong pipeline of work, alongside supporting further project teams across the globe.


We are looking for an experienced individual with experience of managing technical teams to join our growing South West and Wales Transport Planning team (located in either of our Bristol, Cardiff or Exeter offices).

Our local teams get involved in a range of exciting and innovative projects covering all elements of transport planning including traffic modelling, economic appraisal, active modes, public transport, traffic engineering, policy & strategy formation and business case development.


You will play a significant role in delivery of projects and programs working with our management team and experts to deliver at a senior level as well as sharing your skills and knowledge by training and supporting our junior staff.

You will also be given the ability to pursue relevant business interests and be involved in technical training to support your career development as well as the freedom to grow your network and develop innovative solutions to develop new opportunities for the business.


Here's What You'll Need:


  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline; you will have significant experience in the transport planning field with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects
  • A creative, solutionoriented individual, with a strong technical background, solid understanding of transport planning fields and demonstrable success of a range of high profile transport projects
  • Indepth knowledge / understanding of a number of transport planning fields, such as business case development, scheme feasibility, transport assessments and/or modelling
  • Experience providing technical leadership, successfully managing projects and acting in a clientfacing capacity
  • Project Management experience demonstrating responsibility for task, financial and risk controls
  • Accounting & project controls experience, working within a projectbased environment
  • Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
  • Flexibility to manage diverse workload, assist with new business opportunities and embrace emerging technologies, product solutions and the future evolution of the industry

Ideally, here's what you'll also have:

  • Broader transport planning experience, with understanding of wider policy and strategy, modelling and traffic engineering
  • Knowledge of local and national design standards, guidance and good practice (DMRB, TSRGD, LCDS, MfS2, Traffic Signs Manual)
  • Economic appraisal experience
  • Line management and technical mentoring experience

Education/ Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer / Transport Planner or working towards Chartered status with membership of a relevant professional institution.
