Apprenticeship - Vision Rehabilitation Specialist X 3

36 hours per week

Apprenticeship Salary £23,495

Qualifying Salary Range £30,000 to £35,000

(Mileage to be paid at 45p per mile)


Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey has been established for over 100 years and is the major provider of services for people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted, and deafblind in Surrey.


Following successful completion of the apprenticeship course, you will be employed as a Qualified Sensory Specialist Worker on a permanent full-time contract supporting people with vision impairment and/or combined sight and hearing impairment.

As an apprentice your starting salary will be
£23,495 and upon successful completion, salary for a Qualified Sensory Specialist Worker is
£30,000 to £35,000
You must be committed to academic learning and able to work towards a professional qualification. You will receive a dedicated workplace mentor who will support you in your learning and off the job training.

You will join a network of learners internally and externally.

Working alongside a highly supportive and compassionate multi-disciplinary team, passionate about promoting accessible services for people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted, and deafblind.

Enrolment starts May/June or September/October 2024

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have experience of directly supporting vulnerable adults either in paid or an unpaid capacity.
  • Understand through experience of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Be committed to academic learning, off the job training and working towards a professional qualification.
  • Have an awareness of the social model of disability.
  • Ability to learn and deliver Rehabilitation Training, including Outdoor Training and Kitchen skills.
  • Ability to manage your own safety and that of a person with a visual impairment in complex environments.
  • Competent use of databases and Microsoft Office Packages and able to complete online learning.
