  • It's an exciting time to be working on water resources management. The pressures of climate change, and population growth, mean that it will become even more challenging to allocate this precious resource between different uses in the future, while protecting and enhancing the water environment.
We are high achievers when it comes to supporting core water resources planning activity.

This specific role has broader remit to also capitalise on opportunities with regional water resources groups, strategic resource options, and other partnerships West Midlands Area engage with.

This integrated approach to environmental planning is strategically important role to help secure opportunities and achieve our ambitions.

You will have the freedom to shape this role and put your stamp on it - this will help you inform our approach, policy, and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, whilst also building effective and influential relationships.

The team- You'll join the Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team, working closely with specialists in water resources/water quality, catchment planning, and other experts across the West Midlands Area.

We work together to become a team of experienced advisors and regulatory officers central to environmental decision making; delivering integrated actions to maximise benefits for people and wildlife.

We also work with internal/external partners to collate, analyse, and share data providing the environmental evidence to inform our Area priorities.


  • Experience/skills required
  • You should be qualified to degree level in an environmental discipline and have experience in the following areas:
  • awareness and experience of water resource data analysis and/or techniques, and their outputs, to support decision making
communicating effectively with a wide range of customers in different situations
understanding, analysing and translating a variety of data and information into evidence that can be used to inform and influence decisions by technical and non-technical audiences, and support strategic planning activities
ability to work under own initiative, and as part of a larger, cross-functional team, prioritising and delivering work to relevant standards and tight deadlines
good organisational skills/discipline and the ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate own work and other projects so project management experience would be desirable

The team also supports Incident Response through a variety of incident roles and you will undertake this work too, full training will be provided.
