JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title Retail, Admin and Hub Assistant (Temporary 12 months with view to permanent contract)


Location Chester-Le-Street


Reports To Hub Coordinator


Hours 22.5 Hours (Over 3 days)


Days and Times Saturday 9am-5pm, Monday 9am-5pm, Tuesday 9am-5pm


Responsible For Support to Hub volunteers


Hourly Rate £10.42 per hour


Purpose of Role:


  • To assist the Hub Department Leads in the smooth daily running of the RSPCA
Branch Community Hub Project, supporting retail and community activities flexibly according to day-to-day need

  • Deliver excellent customer service to Hub customers in the shop, over the phone and through Branch community engagement work.
  • Support the Hub to raise funds which can be used to deliver welfare support to
Branch communities

  • Be an ambassador for the RSPCA and promote the work of the RSPCA Society, to raise awareness of the work that Branch undertakes and support available to our community

Essential Duties

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to donors and clients visiting the Community Hub.
  • Help to actively promote Gift Aid in the shop, and help achieve goals
Support customers by directing them to the appropriate areas of the Hub.

  • To assist with the intake of donations through the donation station.
  • To assist with processing stock, including sorting, steaming, pricing, hanging, and rotation of donated items.
  • To creatively assist with merchandising and window displays as directed by
Department Leads.

  • Assist the Retail Lead to ensure the shop is a safe environment for employees, volunteers, and the public.
  • Actively encourage all donations into the community hub.
  • To be involved with the till operation and the handling of cash.
  • Understand and comply with the requirements of Trading Standards
Regulations in the shop.

  • To be a responsible key holder, opening & closing the premises for trading hours ensuring that the hours are strictly adhered to when the Retail Lead is unavailable.
  • To assist with photographing stock, listing, orders, and packing for the online selling platforms.
  • Report any maintenance or H&S issues in the shop to the Project
Coordinator.

  • To carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the Hub
Coordinator or Department LeadsTo assist with clients' welfare requests, sending out online forms, checking qualifying criteria, and issuing vouchers

  • To assist incoming donations, and dispensing items from the food bank to the community.
  • Be an active, participative, and supportive member of the Team to ensure that all aspects of the Branch strategy are successfully delivered.
  • To actively promote public understanding of the work of the RSPCA Society,
RSPCA Branch, and Community Hub project and the importance of funds raised through the hub.

  • Build sustainable relationships within the Community at all levels and represent the RSPCA Branch at key events and activities where applicable.
  • Achieve and maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation, and cleanliness throughout the Community Hub.
  • Taking phone calls and offering advice where appropriate.

VOLUNTEERS

  • To assist the department Leads by providing advice,guidance and training to volunteers in order to develop an efficient and effective team.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Ensure that customer service is professional and supports the core values of the
RSPCA Branch and National Society.

  • Promote the use of a loyalty card scheme and repeat donations.
  • Support and advertise RSPCA Branch events, campaigns, and awareness issues.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, customers, and the community.
  • Promote the role of the Charity within the community.

TRAINING

  • To undertake welfare training to ensure the team are able to communicate the
RSPCAs core aims and offer advice to the community as appropriate.

  • Willingness to undertake all training associated with this role or as directed to ensure all standards are met in all areas.

GENERAL
While at work all employees are required to

  • Adhere to the Branch and Society's charitable objectives which are to promote kindness and prevent cruelty to all animals.
  • Understand and comply with the Branch Team book, policies, and procedures.
  • Take care of their own Health and Safety and that of others, to follow Branch Health and Safety policies.
  • Cooperate with all Branch and Society policies and procedures.
  • Operate in accordance with GDPR legislation


In addition to your normal duties, you may occasionally be required to undertake such other reasonable duties as necessary to meet the needs of the Branch Project.


QUALIFICATIONS - ESSENTIAL

  • GCSE(or equivalent) in English and Maths.
