Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team and growing service, which aims to help young people at risk of developing psychosis who are experiencing an at-risk mental state.

The Therapeutic Interventions for Distressing unusual Experiences Service (TIDES) is a brand-new team working therapeutically with young people across Norfolk & Waveney.

We are seeking a Vocational Worker to join the existing team on a full or part time basis. The base will be Norwich.

You will be joining us as vocational worker and would be expected to work flexibly between bases in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Dereham, Kings Lynn, and home.

We are a supported team currently made up of clinical psychology, systemic family therapy, trainee cognitive behavioural therapists and mental health practitioners which are from a variety of professional backgrounds.

Our team will be offering young people evidence-based interventions such as psycho educational work, individual CBT and family therapeutic work aimed at helping our young people and their families to cope with the move on from their unusual experiences.

TIDES practitioners work with small manageable caseloads and hold an integrated approach to the care we provide.

Our service works alongside the established Early Intervention teams, and we specifically support help-seeking individuals aged 14-35 who are having unusual experiences.

When you join us, you can expect a thorough induction and ongoing support.

As we continue to grow you will be supported by a full MDT to include psychiatry, support workers and a peer support worker.

You'll be joining a team with extensive experience of working in a psychosis pathway, and we are passionate about helping our growing team to develop their skills and understanding in this area through ongoing CPD.

You will be joining a supportive environment, with regular clinical team meetings, reflective practice and opportunities to work with the wider MDT, as well as working independently.

Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other.

In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.

Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey.

We have strong, established professional networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.

Why Norfolk and Suffolk? The people here are warm and welcoming, you'll never be far from the beautiful coastline or Broads National Park.

We're an hour and a half away from London and have an international airport in Norwich too. Our villages, towns and cities are packed full of history, independent cafes, shops and theatres. We have excellent shopping, eating out, top ranking schooling and affordable house prices too.

You would have experience of working with people who have experienced mental health problems within health, social services, the voluntary sector, or mainstream educational services as well as a background knowledge of disability and special needs issues in relation to education and employment.

There will be a requirement to be creative:
working in such a large area and linking with other vocational workers within the specialist service line.

You will have an ability to initiate and develop relationships with the education system and employers, linking into schools, colleges, and job centres.

The post holder will work with service users to increase their meaningful activity by gaining voluntary work, education, or employment.

This may also include maintaining current education and employment.

One of the vocational workers within Early Intervention describes the need to use your own initiative, being super organised, as well as offering flexibility with the different aspects of the role.
