This is a hybrid role based in our new Soho Place office - opened in in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.

The role

Joining G-Research as an Operational Risk Advisor, you will work in the Risk function, which are responsible for providing second line risk management services to the business.

This function provides the risk framework, risk reporting, risk advice and solutions, and active oversight of risks and the control environment.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Maturing the risk framework and associated processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of management or risk of all types at G-Research
Consulting on and driving effective risk management in the first line; proactively supporting risk identification, risk assessment and risk decisionmaking
Developing clear articulation and quantitative analysis of risks, and a clear line of sight for remediation plans and appropriate control ownership
Developing solutions for effective risk governance, risk assessment, control design, control data and analysis in any or all parts of the firm's value chain from Strategy and Change to Business As Usual, and in response to Incidents and Loss Events
Ensuring accurate and consistent risk data in the risk system, as well as using experience of GRC products to drive enhancements, such as reporting for first line selfservice
Preparing and reporting to the Executive team on risk exposure, the progress of risk mitigation and progress in the second line
Identifying key issues, events or risks within your area of responsibility and proactively developing and delivering solutions to address them
Building and maintaining a broad understanding of the company's technologies, processes, information flows become a trusted second line partner

Who are we looking for?

We are not a typical second line in our company and are dedicated as much to cost effective control solutions as we are to having confidence our control coverage is right and operates as intended.

If you are the type that is frustrated by the lack of innovation or creative bandwidth available in a traditional second line role in a highly regulated industry, this role may be for you.

Proven experience in operational risk management, ideally within the Financial Services or Technology industry, or as a consultant to these industries
The ability to develop solutions while also challenging and calling out where things don't feel right or proportionate
Knowledge and proficiency of operational risk, providing clarity of thought and pragmatism
The ability to think outside of the box to identify suitable approaches without being constrained by standard ways of working
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to report and present across different organisational layers always answering the 'so what' in your content

Enthusiasm and drive for learning and developing new skills and knowledge, especially within Technology
