We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Communications Assistant to be part of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity's (GOSH Charity) busy and ambitious Communications team, Based within the GOSH Charity offices, the Communications Assistantrole is vital to the successful functioning of the Communications team.

The team works with a wide variety of national, consumer, broadcast, trade and regional media, with celebrities and VIPs, charity staff and patients and families cared for at the hospital.

We're looking for someone who is highly organised and who will enjoy working as part of a fast-paced team - this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills across a breadth of communications work.

Your work will include working closely with GOSH's patientsand their families to help tell their inspiring stories, and engaging Charity staff in the work of the organisation through our internal communications channels to help the charity make the biggest difference to GOSH every day.

You'll be enthusiastic and keen to get involved in all aspects of the team's work and in return you'll gain valuable experience in a high-profile communications team.

The post-holder will get the chance to develop professional writing skills, co-ordinate mediacoverage monitoring and evaluation, help draft internal communications to charity staff, and assist on celebrity and family liaison activities at the hospital, whilst providing essential administrative support to the team.


About the team

The Communications Assistant will be joining a high achieving Communications team, whose remit covers Family Stories, Media Relations, Internal Communications and Celebrity & Influencer Liaison.

The Communications team forms part of the Marketing & Communicationsdirectorate.

About you

You will be a highly efficient organiser who is enthusiastic and willing to get stuck into the team's busy day-to-day work.

A natural relationship builder with a keen eye for detail, you'll be comfortable interacting with people who work both inside and outsidethe charity and be able to prioritise your time, balancing it between essential administrative support and specific project work.


  • Demonstrable interest in the news and media
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise their workload
  • The ability to work independently, using initiative and sound judgement
  • Some previous experience of working in an office environment, demonstrating experience of managing and maintaining administrative systems to support the smooth running of the team
