We have an exciting opportunity to join the IT Services Department as a Systems Administrator (Microsoft) on a two year fixed term contract.

You will be based in Banbury Road / Dartington House but you will be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

About the Role


As a Systems Administrator (Microsoft), you will support and advise researchers across the University who will be using the new Research File Service (RFS).

You will report to the Research Services Support Team (RSST) manager, with a dotted line report to the Microsoft Platform Services team (MPST) manager.

You will be responsible for service and incident response to troubleshoot and resolve RFS issues, communicating with users, suppliers, project and service teams, identifying new business and user requirements and acting on these with systems design and development, supporting server and infrastructure management alongside other daily supporting duties.

You will have great communication skills, and be confident in the ability to communicate to members of the public, students and academic staff with courtesy and politeness.


You will also have a positive attitude with a flexible and adaptable approach to your work, and be comfortable when priorities suddenly need to change.

You will require demonstrable expertise in Microsoft Windows systems administration alongside great reasoning and analytical ability.

You will need to be a self-starter who can respond to requests and manage your own work independently.
