Description

The safety of our care home residents and staff is really important. Your role will be to make sure the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard.

As our Maintenance Person/Labourer, you'll be a valuable member of our friendly, close-knit team, promoting the well-being of our residents and the successful running of our care home.

Our friendly care home in Margate, Kent accommodates elderly residents with a variety of needs, including physical and learning disabilities, dementia and long-term mental health conditions.

It is a desirable requirement to hold a driving licence, as you might be asked to drive between our care homes.

You will be working jointly with the Maintenance Lead and Head of Maintenance to ensure that our home is maintained to the highest of standards.

Your responsibilities will include

Report and action any known defects to appliances, damaged furniture/equipment and any other potential hazards to the Home Manager
General care home maintenance (moving of furniture, up ladders, mowing / weeding, clearing drains and soil pipes, painting and decorating and hanging pictures. Mending leaks. Cleaning floors and carpets. Changing taps.
Ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean. Replace any defective light bulbs/diffusers
Liaise with Home Manager or delegated Staff Member regarding maintenance work to be carried out
Ensure all equipment used by the handyperson is clean and well maintained
Checking control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
Install appliances and equipment
Check functionality of safety systems
Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems
Flooring knowledge
Plastering and wall painting knowledge
Roofing knowledge
Gardening capability
