Description

The Lymphoedema Cancer Service is within the Oncology Directorate in the Cancer SBU and has links with the Breast, Gynaecology, Dermatology, Head and Neck, Urology/genitor-urinary, Psychology and Therapy Outpatient and Inpatient services.

The department provides a service for both St Thomas' and Guy's with the clinic being situated on the Guy's site.

Referrals are received from within the Trust and GPs.


The Lymphoedema Cancer Service employs 8 members of staff to provide Specialist Lymphoedema Services to those who have Lymphoedema secondary to cancer and to those who live in Lewisham, Southwark or Lambeth or to those who have received all or part of their Cancer Treatment at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

To assist Lymphoedema Specialist Practitioners in providing a high standard Lymphoedema service to patients and to undertake duties to support the smooth running of the Lymphoedema department and service.

  • Assisting the Lymphoedema Clinicians to carry out delegated duties
  • Working under the direction of a qualified Lymphoedema Specialist Practitioner with an assigned caseload.
  • The post holder will demonstrate they can work unsupervised within their level of competencies and agreed protocols.
  • Treating own delegated workload of patients and maintaining associated patient records
  • They will play a role in the assessment of patients presenting with cancerrelated lymphoedema and in the delivery of management programmes
  • Ensuring equipment is cleaned and available to the Lymphoedema team in a timely fashion
  • Assisting in the administration and clerical duties of the department
