About the Role:


This is an exciting time to be joining the Estates & Facilities Services as we seek to recruit a series of key maintenance roles including Supervisors, Craftspersons, Operatives and a Technician to further strengthen our Asset Management team responsiblefor the planned and reactive maintenance of the University's building mechanical/electrical systems and equipment.


Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for inspecting, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as
appropriate, Electrical and Mechanical equipment in a safe efficient timely and
effective manner with minimum supervision.

  • Responsible for inspect and maintain to the required standard to ensure our statutory
and contractual obligations are met, availability and associated performance
maintained and to carry out document compliance checks.

  • Ensure all operational assets are accurately registered & have the correct strategic
maintenance program aligned to them (e.g. PPM, hours-run, etc.), ensuring optimal
availability & resilience.

  • To work as part of a small team to carry out all aspects of the planned and reactive
maintenance on the Building Management System, pumps, fans, pipework, associated
controls, PLC's, boiler plant, refrigerant systems, instrumentation and electrical
switchgear.

  • Providing technical advice with up-to-date technical knowledge and update on best
practice and contribute towards strategic operational maintenance plans & task
specifications.

  • Completing operational reports which also include any faults or failings that could
affect the optimum efficiency of the plant and equipment.

  • Take part in training and support for colleagues and technical trainees.
  • Due to working in an operational environment, you will on occasions be required to
work overtime in the event of an emergency and participate as part of an out of hours
on-call rota.

  • Working closely with university staff, colleagues and suppliers to ensure all
maintenance is carried out with mínimal downtime and within budget whilst ensuring
customer service standards are maintained.

  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety policy at all times and demonstrating a Zero
Compromise attitude towards Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

  • Maintain effective liaison and collaboration with other teams within Estates and
Facilities and embrace our 'One Team' approach to ensure successful achievement of
designated tasks.


ESSENTIAL
**ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL

QUALIFICATIONS**:

  • Level 2 Mechanical or Electrical
Engineering or equivalent
qualification.


EXPERIENCE:


  • Relevant technical handson field
experience in maintenance,
diagnostic, investigation of specialist
mechanical / electrical faults.

  • Experience of working within a large
multi-site organisation
