The team:


You'll be joining a high-performing and efficient picture desk team at an exciting time of development, with an ambition to showcase the best images multi-platform delivery.


Role purpose:


You will be working alongside all departments within the ES brands to create and display the best imagery around the world on a daily basis.

The job involves spotting and sourcing images and creating digital imagery to showcase the best of what our brands can offer.


About you:


  • Experience in a fastpaced news environment
  • Strong understanding of picture managements systems and CMS plus different social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
  • Creative, fast and efficient
  • Strong news sense with a creative approach to photography.

Skills and experience:


  • Experience of prioritising and successfully managing numerous projects simultaneously
  • Work quickly and accurately to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • The ability to conceptualise visual ideas and interpret creative briefs
  • Relevant contacts with picture libraries and agencies
  • Strong interest in news and current affairs, arts and lifestyle

Key responsibilities:


  • Working across all aspects of the Evening Standard including the website and newspaper.
  • Liaising with desk head of departments and journalists across all our products
  • Leading a daily conference and meetings with desk heads and all editorial departments
  • Research and procures photographic imagery from wires, agencies, archival and other collections within budget.
  • Suggesting creative and innovative picture ideas, often within a short timeframe and a tight budget.
  • Organise flow of work across both short
- and long-term projects with a view to publishing online and/or in print

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop photo editing software.
  • Manage the online picture desk budget and report to the Head of Pictures.
  • Sourcing and selecting images that will work across print and all digital platforms
