At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work.

The regular office hours are 08:00 - 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 - 13:00 on a Friday.

However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.


Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.


Role:


The Honda Legal Team adds value by collaborating with the business to deliver high value, timely, cost efficient and customer centric advice and coaching in relation to legal affairs and corporate governance across the European Region.


The appointed individual will become a fully integrated member of the Honda Legal Team and will manage a selection of legal, company secretarial, corporate governance, compliance and administrative matters on behalf of the Honda Legal Team and Honda Group in the European Region.

Depending on the work carried out, the appointed individual may be supervised directly by the General Manager for the Legal & Risk Division, the Head of Legal, other members of the Honda Legal Team, or by the Head of Risk (in relation to corporate governance items only).

This is a unique and challenging position and the appointed individual will require strong organisational and time management skills. The courage to lead and a proactive approach to working is essential.

This is a role with responsibility attached that provides an excellent opportunity for the appointed individual to develop their skills and to contribute as part of a dynamic and ambitious in-house legal team.


Main Responsibilities:


Legal support

  • Legal work instructions: support the Honda Legal Team by: (a) providing a first response to all legal work requests; (b) engaging with Associates across all business areas to obtain comprehensive background information, a clear description of the work and a realistic deadline; (c) maintaining a log of Legal Team work requests; and (d) (if requested) forwarding comprehensive instructions to external legal counsel.
  • Drafting legal documents: under the supervision of a qualified lawyer, assist with the drafting and/or revision of e.g. confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, existing agreement amendments/terminations and personal guarantees.
  • Reviewing legal documents: support members of the Honda Legal Team with proof reading and formatting legal documents, including ensuring consistent numbering and correct cross referencing.
  • Research and legal advice support: assist members of the Honda Legal Team with research to support with the provision of legal advice to the business across areas such as modern slavery, antibribery, advertising law and data protection. Prepare advice notes, where required.
  • Litigation register and TREAD

Act Reporting:
maintain a register of current claims and litigation on behalf of all Honda entities in the European region. Report to our parent company in Japan, on a monthly basis (where required).

  • Litigation: support the Head of Legal, or other qualified lawyers within the Legal Team, with managing minor litigation, including claims brought against Honda Motor Europe Limited.
  • Knowledge management: monitor legal developments across relevant areas of law, disseminating the information to peers and the business accordingly.

Company secretarial support

  • Company secretarial: provide company secretarial support, such as drafting Board minutes and Powers of Attorney; arranging notarisation and legalisation; and ensuring the appropriate registration of Honda Motor Europe Limited's branches across Europe.

Corporate governance support

  • Honda Corporate Governance annual review: assist with corporate governance matters such as a yearly assessment of risk, ethics and compliance, as well as monitoring progress in these areas.
  • Honda Corporate Governance adhoc questions: on behalf of the Honda Legal Team, respond to ad hoc questions from the business in relation to the Honda company structure, decision making structures, authorisation limits, policies etc.

Compliance support

  • Global Confidentiality Policy: support the General Manager for the Legal and Risk Division with implementing the Global Confidentiality Policy in the European region, including e.g. delivering training.
  • Training: assist with the creation of training materials or presentations as needed. Provide antibribery training to Honda Associates.
