Job Summary:


Red Rose Recovery has been commissioned to deliver its suite of bespoke training courses to staff, volunteers, service users and professionals.

The Training Assistant will play a crucial role in assisting the Training and Development Lead with this delivery.

Red Rose Recovery's training offer includes:

This is an organisation-wide role, with the postholder required to deliver sessions across our North (Lancaster area), Central (Preston area) and East (Accrington and Blackburn area) localities.

For this reason, an ability and willingness to travel is essential.


The Training Assistant will work closely with, and report to, the Training and Development Lead, as well as alongside managers and engagement staff to ensure the training programme is suitable to the needs of our members and external clients, developing new courses and identifying external training opportunities as required.

They will play a key role in the induction of new staff and the development of our recovery coaching and leadership programmes.


They will attend and support Lancashire User Forum meetings to inform the community of our training programme and to consult with the LUF and other service user groups to ensure we meet the needs of the community.


The postholder will also be expected to support the Training and Development Lead in the development of partnerships with the public and private sector.


These partnerships will be utilised to:

  • Identify organisations who would benefit from Red Rose Recovery training opportunities.
  • Identify external projects for training participants to engage in.
  • Identify opportunities for external partners to mentor training participants.
  • Utilise partners' expertise to add value to our training sessions.
  • Offer addiction and recovery support to external organisations.
  • Break down stigma and demonstrate the value of lived experience recovery organisations.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to all aspects of Red Rose Recovery's training offer, including design, delivery, recording and reporting.
  • Work closely with the Training and Development Lead to ensure staff, volunteers and service users across all of our localities have access to training opportunities.
  • Assist with the induction of new starters, ensuring they receive the training required to perform their new roles in accordance with organisational values and policies.
  • Identify and mentor individuals within our community to become Recovery Coaches.
  • Develop learners' skills, motivation and confidence, supporting them to identify and overcome fears within a relationship of empathy, trust and honesty.
  • Understand the importance of empowering learners through a focus on strengths and values.
  • Assist the Training and Development Lead to develop links with external partners.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure these are inputted into the relevant databases
  • Ensure all participants receive the relevant certificates.
  • Plan and manage delegated workload on a daytoday basis.
  • Ensure any safeguarding disclosures are dealt with appropriately and in accordance with policy.

General responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures, including safeguarding.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with service providers, commissioners, stakeholders and other partner agencies.

  • Remain up to date and compliant with mandatory training requirements.
  • Work in accordance with all Red Rose Recovery policies and procedures.
  • To undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post
  • The postholder must have a valid, full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle during working hours.

Vetting and Clearances:


  • The post holder is expected to have Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Any changes that may affect DBS status may result in termination of post.
