Description
The University of Sunderland prides itself on sector-leading social media
distribution and digital content creation. The Social Media Coordinator role will be
responsible for collaborating with the Digital Content and wider External Relations
team to develop successful Social Media output and campaigns across all
platforms. They will communicate daily about content creations overseeing social
media campaign schedules that determine success or failure by pulling key

This role reports to the Social Media Officer.


Key Responsibilities

and Accountabilities:


  • To create and maintain a strong online presence for the University
  • Plan, Coordinate, analyse and evaluate social media projects
  • Keep uptodate and implement industry trends and best social media
practice to ensure the University is communicating with prospective
students and stakeholders

  • Liaise with influencers and industry contacts to boost social media
presence and increase engagement

  • Work with the Social Media Officer to implement a channel strategy for
social media content

  • To monitor queries and comments on social media, liaising with internal
colleagues to ensure accuracy and timely responses. Also to monitor
potential content ideas around social media responses and ensuring the
correct tone and brand of the University is maintained.

  • Provide reports for Digital Content Manager using appropriate software
  • Support the Social Media Officer with daytoday running of the
University's social channels

  • To develop and implement new ideas to enhance the effectiveness of the
University of Sunderland's various social media channels

  • To contribute to the overall recruitment strategy and the overarching
communications and and marketing strategy.

  • To build the number of followers and establish the University of
Sunderland's social media channels as a go to place for sector-leading
digital content

  • Work closely with the Social Media Officer to develop the University's
presence on TikTok and YouTube

  • To recommend and create new content to use across social channels. This
will involve producing content independently and working collaboratively
with colleagues

  • Create content for multiple platforms including Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, YouTube, Tiktok and LinkedIn.

  • Assist the Social Media Officer with the University's profile and
performance on sites such as The Student Room and The Access Platform

  • Be involved with any other digital, marketing and recruitment duties as
required

  • Act up as cover for the Social Media Officer when necessary

Special

Circumstances:

Occasional travel and out of hours work, particularly for monitoring social media
and attendance at events

Knowledge and Experience:


_- _Demonstrable experience of using social media to deliver part of a

wider multimedia campaign and of writing for social media

_- _Demonstrable understanding of the key role video and podcasting

plays in digital content for various channels

_- _Demonstrable experience of managing multiple social media channels

_- _Experience of using analytics to inform improvements and content

_- _Experience of using a complex Content Management System.

_- _Experience of developing graphics and basic animations

_- _Demonstrable understanding of search engine optimisation.

_- _Understanding of social media trends and how to maximise reach

through engaging content

  • Excellent writing skills
