What you'll be doing:


We are seeking to appoint an organised and experienced Senior Public Health Officer to join Slough Borough Council's motivated, forward looking and expanding Public Health Team.


You will be contributing to the delivery of the Public Health strategy, improving population health through addressing environmental and wider determinants of health, provide public health expertise, advice and support on health improvement, with a focus on public health outcomes, including Health and Wellbeing outcomes, such as within Healthy Places, natural and built environment, Health Impact Assessments and Statutory and non-statutory Planning Policy, Access to Healthy Food, Cleaner Air.


You will be engaging and providing evidence to support Local Plan review and Planning policy to support delivery of Council's priorities for public health.

You will embed high quality Health Impact Assessments process, managing an active and busy inbox as well as working in close partnership with colleagues from SBC Planning, Licencing, Transport and Environment team.


There will also be numerous opportunities for personal development and growth, both in terms of training/CPD and working with a range of partner organisations and several projects.


What you'll have:


  • Experience in building strong and positive relationships with partner organisations across Slough's public, private, community and voluntary sectors, in order to devise shared priorities for healthy places, and facilitate the delivery of shared agendas.
  • Experience managing specific projects and working with stakeholders to support the delivery of elements within a larger Healthy Places programme. You will need to ensure there are strong business cases, robust governance and controls in place, and the identification and realisation of benefits.
  • A working knowledge of the Healthy Places Agenda is extremely beneficial.
  • You will be working in a fastpaced environment that would draw on and build your organisational skills, your ability to prioritise workloads in a multidisciplinary context.
  • Your previous experience working collaboratively across internal and external teams is essential in this role to achieving goals and objectives.
