Commercial Estimator - Rall Manufacturing

Location:

Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Salary / Benefits:

£45,000 - £55,000 - negotiable dependant on experience plus package

Company Information:

One of the UK's leading providers of construction and engineering services to the rail sector are looking to hire a Commercial Estimator to utilise market knowledge, skills and experience to develop and grow existing and new areas of business for the business' UK manufacturing facilities.

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for generating and submitting quotations, bids and tenders to meet customer's requirements and business needs.

The Senior Estimator will have line management responsibility for the Commercial Estimator and utilise market knowledge, skills and experience to develop and grow existing and new areas of business for the UK manufacturing facilities.

Responsibility includes implementing the commercial strategy in line with business objectives in order to meet customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery whilst maximising efficiency and optimising profitability.

Key responsibilities include:

Develop accurate and consistent quotations, bids and tenders with the help of relevant departments.
Manage tenders and PQQs from receipt to submittal, ensuring that tender programmes are created and support resources effectively engaged
Assist in the development and growth of existing and new areas of business
Analyse sales, marketing, finance and other information to gain insights into how to improve performance and maximize growth
Review customers' terms and conditions and provide a concise summary of the risks or opportunities in engaging under them
Maintain sustainable and productive relationships with existing clients and suppliers.
Assist with other commercial activity including contract negotiations, liaison with production planning, suppliers and customers.
Work with the manufacturing businesses to develop sales forecasting
Standardise cost estimating processes to ensure information submissions for quotations, bids and tenders is accurate and timely.

Qualifications and Experience Levels:

Educated to BTEC or equivalent NVQ level 4 in a relevant manufacturing / commercial discipline.
Demonstrable experience of a manufacturing commercial environment with a proven track record in delivering accurate commercial information on time.
Experienced manager of staff
Strong computer skills in particular MS Excel
Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
Proven product and industry knowledge.
Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level.
