We are looking to support the exciting growth across AXA Commercial and bring to market an opportunity for a Motor Trade Underwriter to join the highly successful team.


It's an exciting time to join AXA Commercial, as we continue to transform the Motor Trade Specialist team, a virtual and national team that allow us to deliver consistent and efficient service to Motor Trade customers through the specialist team across the country.

It enables us to show real intent to grow our Motor Trade business and to offer our people in this field a clear career path.


We're looking for ambitious Motor Trade Underwriters who will be key in driving profitable growth through effective underwriting of business cases and building relationships with brokers.

At AXA we're adopting a Hybrid way of working, empowering our people to balance their time between home and aligning to one of our many branches across the UK that is identified to be the most local to the individual.


What you'll be doing:


  • Delivering planned financial results and demonstrating your contribution to loss ratio control by effectively adhering to branch UW controls.
  • Driving profitable growth through effective underwriting of cases within empowerment; delivery of trading targets and building underwriting relationships with brokers.
  • Identifying poorly performing accounts and investigate reasons for lack of retention, discuss actions with senior underwriters, Team Managers and Account Managers and implement those actions to increase retention and improve profitability.
  • Building effective trading relationships with Brokers through trading activity and be recognised as a positive trading partner.

Qualifications:


  • Understanding of the Motor Trade appetite and underwriting guide
  • Experience of handing renewal and/or new business cases
  • Pragmatic decisionmaking with good analytic and interpersonal skills to be able to do this role effectively
  • Strong trading capability with commercial awareness, negotiation skills and ability to build strong relationships
  • Progress towards Dip CII qualification is desirable
  • Communication & presentation and interpersonal skills
