POST:
Senior Homecare Assistant


SUCCESFUL APPLICANT MUST HAVE A FULL DRIVING LICENCE AND ACCESS TO A VEHICLE. MILEAGE AND TRAVEL TIME WILL BE PAID.

THE POST IS SITUATED IN THE COMMUNITY IN THE SKIPTON/EARBY/BARNOLDSWICK/CROSSHILLS/ SUTTON IN CRAVEN AREAS

Home Care Manager


Job purpose:


To support the management in monitoring, maintaining and improving the quality of services provided to vulnerable people in the community.

To support Homecare Assistants to provide a high quality service in accordance with care policies, CQC standards and procedures.

You will work in ways which are consistent with the key aims of maintaining dignity and human rights, as well as maximising the independence and potential of individual clients.


It is a clear expectation within Craven Homecare that the post-holder will develop and maintain knowledge and skills to meet Diploma in Health and Social Care competencies at both level 2 and level 3.


Main duties:
Monitoring quality

  • Carry out Quality Visits to monitor how care is experienced by our clients.
  • Monitor recording carried out by Homecare Assistants to ensure that care is being carried out as per care plans and that issues are being followed up.
  • Monitor quality on a day to day level whilst providing handson care to individuals.
  • Take responsibility for the service provided to specified clients with low level needs under the supervision of management.
Supporting staff to develop their knowledge skills

  • Have a significant role in the training of new staff.
  • Support individual staff where gaps in their knowledge or skills have been identified.
  • Act as a mentor to individual staff where appropriate.
  • Support management in training where appropriate.
Support management in developing new packages of care

  • Support management to ensure new packages of care are implemented successfully.
  • Support management in introducing staff to new clients.
  • Support management to develop services in new areas.
Be part of management team.

  • Attend and contribute to regular management meetings to identify priorities and allocate work accordingly.
  • Act as duty manager for a specified period to support staff whilst they work and handle queries from clients.
  • Contribute to client reviews as appropriate.
  • Support management with care plans and risk assessments for new and existing clients.
  • Write care plans and risk assessments for clients with low level needs with the supervision of management.

Training and developing:

  • It is a requirement that senior homecare assistants have or are working towards their level 2 and 3 diplomas in Health and Social care (or Equivalent)
  • Carry out training relating to the role of leader as required by management.
  • Support homecare assistants with their learning and development, as appropriate.

Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with service users and their carers, families and friends.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and health and social care professionals.
  • Maintain written and other client records, as appropriate.
  • Take responsibility for distribution of required paperwork to staff and client's

Confidentiality:

  • Respect and maintain client's rights to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Support homecare assistants to respect and maintain service users' rights to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ensure that confidentiality is an integral part of their role, making sure that gossip is minimized.
Infection control

  • Follow Craven Homecare's policy and procedures on infection control
  • Carry out training on regular basis on infection control
  • Ensure that care provided by others complies with procedures on infection control.

  • Report and record any concerns about the safety and wellbeing of service users.
  • Support management to make safeguarding alerts where appropriate.
  • Support homecare assistants to carry out their duties fully in regard to safeguarding.
  • Monitor the wellbeing of specific clients in relation to safeguarding as appropriate.
