WAKING NIGHT FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER

About us:
We are a well-established independent organisation that provides parenting assessments for families in our residential centres.

We currently have two centres, one in Croydon and another in Bromley and we are looking for energetic and passionate waking night support workers to join our team.


Positions available:
Full time (42 hours per week) at Jamma Umoja Bromley

Full Time Salary:
£ company pension + regular overtime available

Qualifications required:
: Must hold a minimum of a level 3 NVQ, QCF or similar qualification in Health and Social Care/ Children and Young People's Workforce.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Working part of a multidisplinary team that undertakes parenting assessments of families with complex needs.
  • Develop, encourage and reinforce positive behaviour through working directly with our service users.
  • Providing emotional and practical support to our service users. This includes modelling how to perform basic care tasks whilst also teaching daily living skills.
  • Keeping detailed records of any observations of our service users during the night
  • Providing assistance to our service users during the night, whilst ensuring that they are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Managing risk and conflict; whilst also ensuring that are service users feel safe and supported.
  • Ensuring our vulnerable service users are safeguarded against any potential risk.
  • Administering medication in line with company policy and procedures.

About you:
To be successful in the role of a waking night family support worker at Jamma Umoja you will have:

  • Experience in providing emotional and practical support for at-risk adults or children who have complex needs
  • Experience in crisis management and the ability to respond calmly and practically to incidents.
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of safeguarding in relation to children and families.
  • Competent use of Microsoft software packages especially Word and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate clearly with our service users and colleagues.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Professional approach and attitude to supporting clients Role specifications
  • Full time waking night staff work on a 3 nights on and three nights off rotation, working 12 hour shifts from 8pm8am
  • Part time waking night staff work on a 2 night on and three nights off rotation, working 12hour shifts from 8pm8am
  • Due to the rotation of nights worked, you maybe required to work some weekends or bank holidays.
  • All staff are required to remain awake for the whole duration of the shift.
  • Regular overtime is available; an enhanced rate of pay on bank holidays
All staff are required to undertake monthly supervision and complete mandatory regular training
