This is an extraordinarily exciting time to join the Trust.

We are in the middle of a comprehensive upgrade and transformation of the buildings and services through which we deliver care, ensuring that these new facilities incorporate the very latest insight technology and comfort for the users of our services.

This ambitious capital programme is important, and we hope that fundraising can contribute to these facilities being even more outstanding than we currently plan.

There is also a wealth of other services and support within our community that we would like to provide, and where we believe a fundraising function can help to deliver excellence for the communities we serve.

Among these services is a more comprehensive approach to children's and young people's mental health, widely seen as an area of significant unmet need across the whole of the UK.

At the other end of the age range, we want the care and support we offer to those with dementia to be exemplary.

And we want to develop research active elements of our work, particularly in evaluating different types of community interventions to understand the difference they can make on the wellbeing of our service users.

The primary purpose of this new role is to build a successful fundraising function to deliver results over the short, medium and long-term.

The successful applicant will lead the introduction of fundraising, working to develop the tools and language to make it successful, as well as starting to drive the internal cultural change and understanding of Surrey and
Borders as a charitable cause.

They will set direction and build strategy, but will also be
responsible for implementation, for 'doing' as well as 'managing' in the first instance.

It is expected that in time the postholder will also be responsible for leading grant-making, and that in the medium term the Trust will establish an independent Hospital Charity whose governance will be the responsibility of the post-holder.

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the leading provider of health and social care services for people of all ages with mental ill-health and learning disabilities in Surrey and North East Hampshire.

We also provide social care services for people with a learning disability in Croydon and ASD and ADHD assessment services in Hampshire.

We actively seek to engage people who use our services and our communities in improving the mental wellbeing of the local population.

We work closely with other NHS and voluntary sector organisations who provide services and support people who use services and carers.

Surrey is a beautiful county lying just 30 minutes away from Central London and from the South Coast.

Our historic market towns and bustling districts are enveloped in wonderful countryside, and our excellent road and rail networks bring the rest of the country within easy reach.
