Our Client is a global organisation who are looking for a Design Manager (Water & Energy)based out the Midlands Site.
Our Client is a global construction organisation who are working on a major project in the United Kingdom.
In this role, the Design Manager, is a project based with responsibilities to manage design from supply chain design partners onprojects with multiple design interfaces.
You will draw on previous knowledge to define project specific processes and strategy for design management appropriate to the size of project.
Responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Take full accountability and responsibility for Design Management on projects at bid and delivery stages
- Understand and comply with the requirements of the company design management processes
- Define project specific design management processes and strategy
- Manage the project design resource and team profile
- Undertake and lead design reviews and coordination meetings
- Manage and coordinate the design process through the project design stages/gateways.
- Challenge the brief and bring fresh thinking, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ensure adherence to the design brief/scope of service and develop subcontract design scopes of service
- Work with the project planner to produce a fully coordinated design programme
- Monitor and report on design progress against programme
- Coordinate the design activities of the design team, contractors, client, statutory bodies and other third parties
- Foster a safe by design approach and ensure compliance with all applicable duties under the CDM regulations
- Ensure change is controlled is accounted for, authorised and implemented, as necessary, with the project manager and client
You will;
- Be qualified to a minimum of BEng(Hons) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Hold membership of a relevant professional institute and be committed to achieving chartered engineer status
- Have experience in one or more of the sectors we operate (rail, energy, water, highways, nuclear or aviation)
- Have design management experience on a number of projects
- Have experience on bidding and winning work
- Be able to work in a team environment contributing across a project, site or area
- Have good management skills, with the ability to motivate self and colleagues to perform
- Have good planning and time management skills; able to manage activities simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality
- Have the ability to ensure standards and specifications are met
- Be able to work with colleagues to contribute to project and operational performance
- Have sound knowledge of construction practises and standards
