This role is designed for a graduate who is sincere and wants to pursue restorative methods, with its foundation steeped in empathy.

Being kind, fun, sociable - it seems very simple, these are 3 of the key skills that will enable you to excel within this role.

If you have serious ambitions within Youth and Social Justice and advocacy in general, this SEMH teaching Assistant role will give you experience of working with vulnerable children, in an Alternative Provision, who have been severely let down by the adultworld, leading to social anxiety and deep trust issues towards new adults that come into their life, in and out of school.

There is a real and sustained focus on Restorative Practices in this school, the approach is very much to build comfort before looking at academics and content.

You will be working with girls and boys who will have been through a number of traumas, your role will be to build trusting, solid relationships, while you demonstrate the value of their education to them.

For example, you could be working with a child whohas been manipulated into running county lines, they at least need to be shown how vital their education is.

This is a very challenging role, any experience of working with charities like Hestia and Nacro would be of real interest.

LSA role is also suitable if you are a graduate who is as an aspiring Youth Justice Officer or looking to be in the field of OutreachWork
This role will evolve an awful lot, ideal experience pre or post your degree or a MSc, especially to qualify and disqualify the sector

Ideal for a Psychology, Sociology and Criminology graduates, this role should give you good experience with SEN students and within mental health before embarking on an MSc of your choice.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
