Petrichor in the role of Gallery Assistant at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art and Marianne North Gallery at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

The Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art opened in April 2008 and has proven to be a highly successful addition to Kew's visitor offering.

The Marianne North Gallery reopened in 2010 after a complete refurbishment of the building and these two galleries are now linked and offer a unique art and visitor experience at Kew.

Based in the Shirley Sherwood Gallery, you will assist the Gallery Manager in all aspects of the operational running and activities associated with the galleries.

With a confident and customer-orientated approach you will ensure the provision of a high-quality front of house service to meet visitor expectations, as well as demonstrating considerable knowledge of the current exhibition, primarily whilst stewarding the installations Centrifugal Soul and Albion, to keep them secure, safe, and well maintained.

You will also support the gallery retail operations and assist in the delivery of gallery events.

A team player, you will have experience of providing a customer-focused service in a heritage environment.

You are self-motivated with excellent communication skills, and you will demonstrate a flexible, engaging, and positive attitude and approach to your work.

Please note that this is fixed-term role.

The contract is offered on a fixed hours basis and is annualised hours from 16th October 2023 to Sunday 7th April 2024.

Pay will be paid in equal monthly instalments, and hours per week will vary depending on the needs on the business.

This contract is for 2 days per week with the option of overtime if required.

This position will be expected to work weekends, seasonal holidays, bank holidays and on occasion evenings and late nights. Shift start time will be 9.30/10am.

The post may involve occasional lone working.
