Description

We are looking for a 'Production Planner' to join a growing precision machining and sheet metal manufacturing company serving aerospace and defence customers based in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire.


Main objective of our 'Production Planner': Your ultimate objective is to coordinate all customer requirements into production, to ensure projects are completed on time.


You will work closely with the Production Manager, as well as Customer Service Executives and the Commercial Manager to coordinate and schedule all projects for production, ensuring to cohere with forecasted project programs.

As a project planner, you are expected to be able to report the progress of items in production to management.


Key Responsibilities of our 'Production Planner':

Liaise with Sales/Project Managers from handover stage, to analyse quotes and understand each individual jobs lead times for what is forecasted, and the allocated production hours.

Develop and maintain a Master Production Schedule, using data analysis techniques to increase productivity and workflow in production.


Organise weekly production meetings, to schedule new items into production and assist management to coordinate departmental work tasks in accordance with forecasted production hours.


Build and maintain effective working relationships within the factory, and all relevant internal teams, to ensure effective communication and feedback of information.

Assist to motivate production, promoting engagement and focus, in aid of delivering production plans and targets.


To co-ordinate and oversee the daily operational planning function, monitoring production performance versus plan to ensure production is delivered to meet forecasted lead times, and report on overall production progress.


Review, analyse and interpret purchasing data, to anticipate problems with the flow of materials/supplies for production, communicate shortages or delays, to report on potential interruptions.

Keep project managers up to date on jobs, and alter production where required, with overall company success in mind.

Liaise with internal departments to ensure items are packed suitably, clearly labelled, ready for despatch.

Collaborate internally with key stakeholders and HR/Admin to resolve system weaknesses, KPI's or performance related issues.


Communicate workshop departmental recruitment requirements with HR/Admin, to ensure we are at full capacity in line with forecasted workload in production.

Help to develop new processes and initiatives to further improve overall production performance.

Essential Requirements:
A friendly, yet robust individual, with ability to engage and communicate at all levels.

Can demonstrate experience within a planning, production control, or similar role ideally in the manufacturing industry.

Computer literate, with Intermediate/Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Office and other Microsoft packages.

Well organised, with good knowledge of production planning techniques.

Some knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace.

Good level of spoken and written English Language.

Full Clean UK Driving License (desirable)
