In Environmental Services, the team are engaged in the direct maintenance and management of the authorities' environmental assets and infrastructure including parks, cemeteries, public open spaces, public rights of way, Crematorium and countryside sites.
Our focus is to further improve performance and find efficiencies by recruiting a Crematorium Attendant to assist in the operational management of the Gwent Crematorium.
About the job
As the Crematorium Attendant you will assist in the management of the Gwent Crematorium's operational functions.
You will be a key point of contact for the Public and your duties, which will vary on a flexible rota, will include undertaking a range of operational duties including:
- Assist and liaise with Funeral Directors, Celebrants and Ministers to ensure the services proceed smoothly and timely as a chapel attendant.
- Show empathy and understanding to any mourners and their enquiries at all times
- Operate the Cremators in accordance with Manufacturers guidelines. Completing relevant checks and daily maintenance as required.
- Ensuring that Cremated remains are dealt with, as requested.
- Garden and grounds maintenance duties as required
About the person
Enthusiastic and confident, you should have or be working towards an ICCM standard qualification or equivalent.
It is very important to have excellent interpersonal skills, combined with flexibility and understanding, when dealing with the public, funeral directors and other team members.
You will need flexibility in your approach to work, as the role encompasses three roles within the Crematorium structure. This role also requires rotational weekend working and overtime when required.You need an organised approach to your work and maintain attention to detail while working to tight deadlines. You are self-motivated and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and appreciate the importance of customer care.
