REED Legal are working with one of the UK's leading providers of insurance and legal services who have built a reputation for an ethical approach to personal injury litigation.


Job Purpose


To manage a varied caseload of non-standard subrogated loss recovery and non-road traffic accident uninsured loss recovery (ULR) claims, whilst delivering robust quality claims handling, with a key focus on maximising recoveries within agreed timescales,and to contribute to the general success of the business.


Key Duties

  • To be responsible for and conduct a high volume and varied caseload of nonstandard subrogated loss recovery and nonRTA ULR claims, making use of the firm's case management systems, and using the agreed internal procedures and practices
  • To ensure that the case management system is used and always updated
  • To use all communication mediums to ensure that cases are progressed as quickly as practicable
  • To progress your caseload in a manner to ensure that insurers and lay clients receive appropriate, professional, with regular contact, whilst managing their expectations
  • To gather the evidence required to support liability and quantum to give claims the best possible prospects of success
  • To attempt to negotiate preissue settlements but if necessary to draft and issue Court proceedings to recover any losses
  • To conduct claims in which liability has been denied and/or with causation issues with mínimal supervision
  • To be able to assess liability and quantum to include reviewing, researching, and obtaining relevant statute and case law
  • To identify any cases where it would be tactically beneficial to litigate at an early stage and to refer such cases to the Department Manager expeditiously
  • To conduct Court proceedings up to and including settlement or trial
  • To conduct enforcement proceedings if a judgment remains unsatisfied
  • To achieve own, and help the team achieve and exceed, various targets set in relation to, for example, monies recovered and lifecycles without compromising the firm's integrity
  • To liaise appropriately and timely with sources, lay clients, experts, third party insurers, the Court, and other relevant parties to ensure that cases are proactively progressed
  • To perform to a high level in a targetorientated environment
  • To undertake any other tasks as deemed relevant and reasonable by the business Experience & Knowledge
  • Previous experience of managing your own caseload of subrogated loss recovery and/or ULR claims and/or of conducting civil litigation and/or of handson conduct of tasks relating to such claim's knowledge of the law of tort and contract law
  • Knowledge of insurance indemnity, liability, and causation issues, including the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Article 75 status
  • Knowledge of civil litigation procedure, including the Civil Procedure Rules

Salary:
up to £30,000


Location:Flexible - minimum 2 days from office

Monday - Thursday 9am - 5.30pmFriday 9am - 5pm
