Description

2258223FP-R

You will be involved in building a prototype levitated optomechanical sensor (LOMS) system along with developing and carrying out photonic system and mechanical design, integration, characterisation and packaging for LOMS.

Your responsibilities will include cleanroom fabrication, laboratory experimentation, literature review, critical evaluation and interpretation.
Validating prototype system in a relevant environment. e.g. Site testing data collection, processing, validation against published water level.
Demonstrating the novel LOMS gravimeter in an industrially relevant environment. e.g. Site testing of the Jurassic Coast.
Demonstrate system prototype in an operational environment. e.g. Testing in one site, data collection, processing
Collaborate/work on original research tasks with colleagues and industrial partners.

To be successful you will hold a PhD* degree (either awarded or nearing completion) or equivalent qualifications and experience related to photonics, physics or related fields.

It is essential that you are able to demonstrate that you have experience in laboratory experimentation of photonics and/or physics along with experience in cleanroom fabrication and device characterisation.

Ideally, you will also have:
An understanding of photonics design, sensor development, electronic circuit design, and packaging of system.
An understanding of levitated optomechanics, light driving mechanisms and underlying physics.
Knowledge in analytical analysis and numerical modelling
