The Programme


Fieldfisher's unique Trainee Legal PA programme is the perfect opportunity to start a career as a Legal PA in a leading European Law Firm based in Fieldfisher's iconic Support Hub in the Titanic Quarter, Belfast.


As a Trainee Legal PA, you'll get to work directly with our experienced Legal PAs while supporting our Lawyers and Partners.

You'll be given the experiences and the environment that will support you, challenge you and put you in good stead for a career as a Legal PA at Fieldfisher.

You'll be guided every step of the way, teaching you the skills and behaviours which will enable you to thrive in your career while completing structured work-based learning and skills training.

You'll be joining a structured programme, providing you access to 'all-areas' through a rotation of seats across the Firm's key practice areas.

This is a full-time, permanent programme commencing January 2024.

Programme Responsibilities
The type of work you do will depend on the department you work in, however, as a Trainee PA at Fieldfisher you can expect to learn and experience:

  • Diary management
  • Ensuring client meetings and clashes do not occur
  • Arranging meetings on behalf of partners/lawyers/clients ensuring that they have the appropriate materials
  • Arranging business travel and webinar arrangements
  • File management opening and closing files using electronic filing systems (IManage)
  • Mailbox management
  • Undertaking typing to help with documents
  • Work with Legal Support Services across the Firm (such as the document production team and practice administration team)
  • Liaise with the billing team
  • Submit invoices
  • Prepare presentations and meeting papers
  • Opening new clients (supporting AML processes and working with the firm's Risk Team)
  • Preparing engagement letters
  • Work with the Marketing Team to upload and update content on the Firm's website and internal intranet
  • Support fee earners with Business Development and Bids management and processes

  • GCSEs grade C and above in Maths and English
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Enthusiastic, keen and proactive
  • Customer service skills
  • Telephone interview
  • Assessment centre in our offices in November 2023
