Classroom Recruiters are recruiting on behalf of a range of specialist child service providers across the Derby area that offer support to some of the most challenging pupils.

They specialize in creating a timetable for pupils that adapts to their needs and pairing them with behavior mentors who will help guide them through the academic year.

You can work in a specialist hub or local school you will always be working at one site.

These roles are crafted with a child-focused mentality.

You will be working with children who do not engage well within education and, in some cases, even refuse to take part in lessons.

You must be someone who is looking for a long-term project and that project is to help change the outcomes of some of the most challenging children in Derby.


If you believe every child deserves a mentor that will refuse to give up on them no matter how tough the day and how uphill the battle may seem at times, this is the role for you.

This is a role for someone who has a real passion to work with challenging children and change the outcomes of some of the most disconnected children in Derby one child at a time.


We are looking for Positive Behaviour Support Workers Across Derby

Because the children you will be working with have to reach a certain threshold in order to access this level of support, funding is released sporadically over the year, increasing as the academic year goes on.

So the number of children who have started a support plan has a real uptick, and we now need a huge amount of staff for the child service providers we work with.


Will you be based at one site? Yes, you will always be placed at one site, but there are children that need support across Derby and the surrounding areas. We work with a range of specialist child service providers that specialize in working with children who need help to re-engage within education. It could be in one of their specialist hubs or it could be based in a school they operate in.


Type of people we recruit:
This is not an orthodox 1:1 role, and in saying that, we welcome people from an unorthodox background.

But this is a role that requires people who have experience working with children or adults in a challenging environment and/or have qualifications to work with children.

You must understand that this role needs consistency for the sake of the children. Therefore, our vetting process is very thorough.


You must be overflowing with a positive attitude and have a mountain of resilience and real talent to form meaningful working relationships with the children in your care.

We are very open to recruiting people from a range of backgrounds, but you must have transferable skills or qualifications that are related to education or support work with children or adults to be considered.

You must have a proven track record of supporting pupils or young adults and be able to engage positively with some of the most challenging children in Derby,day in and day out.

You must be able to communicate well with pupils and be a positive influence on them and create a positive working relationship.

You must be resilient and a real team player that can communicate well with other staff.


You must understand that some of these children have simply disconnected from education and it's your job to be the ship that helps ferry them back towards a positive end destination.

The mission is a long one, and it will not be easy, so if you are looking for a real challenge that will take a lot of patience and dedication to the role and be an uphill battle most of the time, then this is for you.

This is a role you can really sink your teeth into and work hard as part of a team in a positive environment that children can thrive in.


And the reward is seeing a young mind changed positively and outcomes for the future improved in ways that cannot be described.


The children you will be working with: You must be confident working with children that will take time to acclimatize to their new working environment and the staff that are supporting them. They may have been excluded, on the verge of exclusion, or have been identified as a pupil that may flourish in an environment that is more tailored to their needs.


The children will all be secondary-aged, and you must be happy to work with a range of age groups as you could be placed with a child from year 7 to 12.

Each child will have a unique support plan and timetable, and they may have access to some great vocational activities depending on what site you ar
