The Role
The Technical Inspector will be supporting the customer's certification process by providing on-site technical inspections.

They will use their knowledge, experience, and expertise in their chosen field, to report on the work being carried out, recording observations of good practice, areas of improvement or non-conformities against the MCS standards.


Main Responsibilities

  • Verify Retrofit Designs before attending an On-Site Technical Inspection
  • To carry out external Technical Inspections onsite in line with MCS standards
  • Write up detailed technical reports that are easy to understand.
  • Answer client enquiries regarding any inspection reports.
  • To offer guidance to multiple businesses across the eco industry within UKAS guidelines

Other Responsibilities May Include

  • Carrying out Head Office Assessments (looking at our client's QMS (Quality Management System)
  • Conducting observations and supporting newly appointed Technical Inspectors in the same role
  • Please note that training can be provided if the essential qualifications are met. _

Desirable Qualifications


The list of possible competencies is so vast that only a selection of competencies is noted below to provide an idea of what a competent designer/installer may require.


  • MCS Awareness Course
  • GDA or DEA or Equivalent Course (Retrofit Assessor)
  • Relevant NVQ/Qualifications for each applicable measure (see table below)
  • A Health and Safety Qualification (e.g. IOSH or NEBOSH).
  • Health and Safety Certificates Relevant to Each Measure (Manual Handling, Confined Spaces, Fire Awareness, Working at Heights, Gas Safe, Asbestos Awareness).
  • A1 Assessor
  • A recognised electrical qualification that satisfies the requirements of Electrotechnical Assessment Specification, Appendix 4 published by the I ET.
  • Registration with a Scheme Operator authorised under the relevant Building Regulations.
  • Where relevant to the scope of work being undertaken, the Electrician/s must show awareness of asbestos and other related health and safety issues such as manual handling, working at heights and fire safety.
  • A recognised heating qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ or SVQ in plumbing or heating & ventilation or gas or oil or equivalent certification, Gas Safe (CCN1) The student must be capable of installing a wet central heating circuit.
  • Registration with a Scheme Operator authorised under the relevant Building Regulations.
  • An industryrecognised unvented cylinder/hot water systems and safety course or qualification (G3).
  • Water regulations training is recognised by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS).
  • An industryrecognised short course or qualification in the particular MCS technology e.g. Biomass, Heat Pumps or Solar Thermal.
  • BPEC Part L Energy Efficiency.
- competencies such as cable or component sizing are normally addressed as part of the installer and PV short courses or qualifications.

  • BPEC Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pump Systems (Nonrefrigerant Circuits).
  • BPEC Heat pump system (NOS Mapped)
  • BPEC Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems.
  • BPEC Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems.

Salary:
£45,000.00-£52,000.00 per year
