Description
An apprenticeship position with day-release for either classroom-based remote training 1 day per week.
The role will introduce you to the basics of accountancy good practice, working in a busy and flourishing accountancy firm with a diverse range of clients.

Duties of this role will include:
- Assisting with basic bookkeeping tasks and spreadsheet work connected with the preparation of accounts as well as both business and personal tax returns.
- Assisting with preparation of VAT and monthly/quarterly accounting procedures.
- General accountancy practice with responsibilities for a mixed client base of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. Clients are varied across industry and turnover.
- Assisting clients with queries and providing support in connection with Cloud accounting software packages such as Xero and QuickBooks.
- General administrative duties including answering the phone, handling telephone calls, letter writing, filing and records maintenance.
- Assisting colleagues and clients meet the variety of deadlines associated with the profession such as: tax return deadlines, account filing deadlines and payment deadlines.
- Consistently ensuring accuracy of all personal data held in our systems.
- Awareness and implementation of the requirements of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation.
- Awareness and implementation of the requirements of the Money Laundering Act (MLA) legislation.
- Any other duties as directed.
I

- English and Maths GCSEs at Grade 5 (or above)
Essential skills
- Excellent numeracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT skills with a desire to broaden those skills and adapt to new tasks and challenges.
- Able to show initiative and be able to work effectively with colleagues.
- Be well organised, able to meet deadlines and to be able to plan for changing demands and workflows.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to answer the phone and field enquiries in a professional and articulate way.
Training
- 1 day per week at college (classroombased or remote) plus training on the job
