I am working with a fantastic school in Ward End, Birmingham. They are looking for a SENCO to work 3 to 4 days per week from September. This will be for at least 2 terms. It would be advantageous to have a minimum of 5 years experience.


Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join our team.

As a SENCO, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the provision of special educational needs support within our organization.

This is a vital role in ensuring that all students receive the necessary support and resources to thrive academically and socially.


Duties:


  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to identify students with special educational needs
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing effective strategies and accommodations for students with special needs
  • Conduct assessments and monitor progress of students with special educational needs
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with parents, teachers, and external professionals to discuss student progress and interventions
  • Provide tutoring or additional support to students as needed
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive support for students
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on topics related to special educational needs
  • Stay uptodate with current research and best practices in the field of special education

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • SENCO award is essential
  • Previous experience working as a SENCO or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of special educational needs policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with various intervention strategies, such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) or speech therapy techniques
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with preschool or toddleraged children
  • Knowledge of mathematics curriculum and instructional strategies
  • Experience in proofreading educational materials
  • Mentoring or coaching experience

£230.00-£250.00 per day
