I am working with a fantastic school in Ward End, Birmingham. They are looking for a SENCO to work 3 to 4 days per week from September. This will be for at least 2 terms. It would be advantageous to have a minimum of 5 years experience.Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join our team.
As a SENCO, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the provision of special educational needs support within our organization.
This is a vital role in ensuring that all students receive the necessary support and resources to thrive academically and socially.
Duties:
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to identify students with special educational needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing effective strategies and accommodations for students with special needs
- Conduct assessments and monitor progress of students with special educational needs
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with parents, teachers, and external professionals to discuss student progress and interventions
- Provide tutoring or additional support to students as needed
- Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive support for students
- Conduct training sessions for staff on topics related to special educational needs
- Stay uptodate with current research and best practices in the field of special education
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- SENCO award is essential
- Previous experience working as a SENCO or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of special educational needs policies and procedures
- Familiarity with various intervention strategies, such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) or speech therapy techniques
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with preschool or toddleraged children
- Knowledge of mathematics curriculum and instructional strategies
- Experience in proofreading educational materials
- Mentoring or coaching experience
Note:
All positions at our organization are paid, including internship positions.

£230.00-£250.00 per day
